Al Sharpton Says No Money Should Be Raised to Rebuild Haiti After Hurricane Matthew Since Millions Given After the 2010 Earthquake Are Unaccounted For

al-sharptonRev. Al Sharpton doesn’t want any money going to rebuild Haiti from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew until someone explains what happened to the $10 billion that was meant to rebuild Haiti after the earthquake in 2010.

“What happened to the money that was given the last time? We need to look into it,” Sharpton says. “I don’t know where the blame lies.”

Page Six notes how six years after that quake, Haiti’s infrastructure is still in shambles, and tens of thousands are still homeless because little housing has been rebuilt.

Some say Hillary Clinton is to blame. She was secretary of state when the magnitude 7.0 earthquake destroyed Port-au-Prince, and Bill Clinton was a UN special envoy to Haiti.

Donald Trump claimed Tuesday in Florida that the Clintons “ripped off Haiti” and said, “We should never forget how Bill and Hillary Clinton handled Haiti the last time out.”

Bill Clinton is still asking for money. On Oct. 4, he tweeted, “Praying for everyone impacted by #HurricaneMatthew. Here’s how you can help in Haiti,” with a link to the Clinton Foundation website.
